From college to university
The 'Studienkolleg' at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1991. It provides targeted preparation for international students interested in pursuing a degree in Germany.
Our goal is to offer all participants the best possible support, regardless of their background, prior education, or experience. We teach the fundamentals of language and academic subjects, as well as research methods, to ensure a successful transition into higher education.
In doing so, we place particular emphasis on personalized support, transparent processes, and equal opportunities.
College: How we prepare you
Our goals
The role of the 'Studienkolleg' (preparatory college): We provide you with the language and subject-specific knowledge you need for your degree program, familiarize you with academic methods, and administer the placement exam (FSP) and the German Language Proficiency Test for University Admission (DSH).
Uniform Standards for Your Success: Instruction follows a nationwide standardized curriculum based on the acquisition of specific competencies.

The DSH course is a preparatory course for the German Language Examination for University Admission of Foreign Applicants (DSH).
Prerequisites for admission to this course are direct university entrance qualifications for a German university, preliminary admission to a degree programme at a Saxon university, and passing the entrance exam.
The DSH course lasts one semester. The DSH course focuses exclusively on German as a foreign language.

Once you earn your degree from the 'Studienkolleg' (preparatory college), many paths are open to you: You can submit applications to colleges and universities throughout Germany or continue your studies directly at the University of Zittau/Görlitz.
