From college to university

About us

The Studienkolleg of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1991. It prepares international students specifically for studying in Germany.

Our aim is to offer all participants the best possible support, regardless of their background, previous education and experience. We teach language and subject-specific basics as well as methods of academic work to ensure a successful start to your studies.

We attach particular importance to personal support, transparent processes and fair opportunities.

College: How we prepare you

Our goals

The task of the Studienkolleg: We teach you the language and subject-specific skills for your studies, familiarize you with academic methods and take the Feststellungsprüfung (FSP) and the German language test for university entrance.

Uniform standards for your success: Teaching follows a uniform nationwide framework based on the acquisition of specific skills.

TI course: Technology/ Engineering

The two-semester TI course prepares you for a degree course in a technical or engineering field.

Prerequisites for admission to this course are pre-admission to a technical or engineering degree course at a Saxon university and a pass in the entrance test.

Subjects in the TI course:

German8 - 10 hours / week
Mathematics6 - 8 hours / week
Physics6 - 8 hours / week
Computer science2 - 4 hours / week
TC/CAD2 - 4 hours / week
English2 - 4 hours / week


At the end of the TI course, students take the assessment test exam.

Possible courses of study afterwards: Mechanical Engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, industrial engineering, Green Engineering, Environmental Sciences and many more.

WW course: Economics

The two-semester WW course prepares you for studying economics in Germany.

Prerequisites for admission to this course are pre-admission to an economics course at a Saxon university and a successful entrance test.

Subjects in the WW course:

German8 - 10 hours / week
Mathematics6 hours / week
VWL/BWL6 hours / week
Computer science4 hours / week
Business Statistics / Business Psychology2 hours / week
English language2 - 4 hours / week

At the end of the WW course, students take the assessment test exam.

Possible courses of study afterwards: Business Administration, tourism management, Social Work, European Business, International Business Communication, Applied Nursing Science and similar subjects.

DSH course: The path to the language exam

The DSH course is a course to prepare for the German language examination for university admission for foreign applicants (DSH).

Prerequisites for admission to this course are a direct university entrance qualification for a German university, pre-admission to a degree program at a Saxon university and a pass in the entrance test.

The DSH course lasts one semester. The DSH course is taught exclusively in German as a foreign language.
