It is always a special highlight when degree certificates are awarded to the graduates of the 'Studienkolleg' (preparatory college) at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. The historic atmosphere of the Citizens’ Hall at Zittau City Hall provided a festive and special setting for the occasion. Beaming eyes and, above all, pride in their accomplishments were evident on the graduates’ faces when they received their degree certificates on February 8. The graduates come from eleven different countries, including Indonesia and Morocco (which, with eleven students each, are the largest groups), as well as Vietnam, Poland, Iran, Syria, Nepal, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, and Cameroon.

A total of 50 graduates (including 15 female graduates) received their degree certificates, thereby taking a significant first step toward pursuing higher education in Germany. This semester, all 33 students passed the proficiency exam (FSP) in accordance with the requirements of the specialized courses in economics and technology. This was a first: for the first time, all participants in the Technology track successfully completed the course. Seventeen students were presented with degree certificates confirming they had passed the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH), including three graduates at Level 3 (the highest level), seven degree certificates for passing the DSH at Level 2, and another seven degree certificates for passing the DSH at Level 1.

Thirty-one graduates have decided to pursue a degree at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences starting in the 2019/2020 winter semester in one of the 40 degree programmes.

All remaining graduates have received conditional admission to one of the other universities of applied sciences in Saxony.
